IDRF’s partnership with Vatsalya Trust, Mumbai

We are delighted to share the inspiring story of how IDRF forged a profound connection with the Mumbai-based NGO, Vatsalya Trust. This partnership stands as a testament to our vision and firm dedication to improving the lives of those in need. Together, we strive to create a positive impact and transform the lives of the underprivileged, ensuring a brighter future for all.

During one of their visits to India in 2000, Dr. Prakash and his wife Sarla, had the privilege of meeting the representatives of the Vatsalya Trust in Mumbai. This meeting opened their eyes to the remarkable activities undertaken by this NGO. The Prakashs were left deeply impressed by the persistent dedication of the Vatsalya Trust in providing love and care for orphaned children. It was heartrending to realize that the majority of these vulnerable children were girls who had been abandoned by their parents.

The Balikashram- Sanpada Project was started by Vatsalya Trust in June 1999 in Navi-Mumbai at Sanpada. IDRF has been a partner since 2008 and sending grants to support this project. In a three-storied building, more than 50 destitute girls in the age group of 4 to 16 years are provided shelter, nourishment, medical care, and educational and developmental facilities. These girls from economically weaker sections of society are provided with education and personality development so that when they go back to their families, they feel more confident and self-reliant. During the academic year, several events and competitions are held and the girls are encouraged to participate to ensure their all-round personality development.

The girls who show an interest and talent to pursue formal higher education are encouraged to do that. Whereas, the girls who do not pursue higher education are encouraged to pursue vocational courses offered at the Balikashram. Vatsalya Trust also conducts various vocational courses such as tailoring, fashion designing, beautician, henna application, etc. for girls at the Balikashram as well as other women from economically weaker sections of the society.

Join us in supporting IDRF's efforts to empower and educate deserving children in India, transforming lives one step at a time. Donate to IDRF to create a brighter future for those in need in India. admin@idrf.org.
